INTERESTING COMPARISONS. BIG INCREASE IN REVENUE. An interesting statement, in the shape of the capital account of the electric light department, will be tabled at to-night's meeting of the Borough Council. It shows that the total amount expended on the works is £29,325. Of this sum, £26,085 was provided out of loan monies, and £3239 out of revenue. The. expenditure was distributed over the following heads:—Plant (including land,] buildings, hydraulic works, machinery, and transmission line, and extensions now in hand) £16,764; private lighting, £9303; street lighting, £3197: total. £29,325. HOW THE BUSINESS HAS GROWN. The report also includes some very enlightening comparisons showing that in six years the revenue has increased from £•B3 to £5318. Details are as follows: —1906 (part of one quarter only): Private lighting, £3 0s 6d; power and heating, nil; public lighting, £80; total, £B3 0s Gd; 1907, £566 4s lOd, £l2 Is lOd, £550, £ll2B Gs Sd; 1908, £ISBO 9s 4d, £lOl 9s, £624 7s 3d, £2306 5s lOd; 1909, £2334 Os 3d, £298 lis 7d, £7OB 18s 4d, £3341 10s 8d; 1910, £2863 15s Bd, £4OB 7s 3d, £746 17s 6d, £4019 Os lOd; 1911, £3156 17s Id, £321 4s, £750, £4423 Is 7d; 1912, £3778 0s sd, £699 2s 4d, £B4l 14s 2d, £5318 16s lid. BIG INCREASE IN CONSUMERS. As regards the consumers, the oom r parative table shows that, beginning with 41, the number has in six years been increased to 900. Each year records a steady increase, that of last year (230) being the largest yet experienced. Last year, the output in units was 334,030. The number of consumers in suburban districts now included in the borough is: Vogeltown 46, Fitzroy 45, Avenue road 7, Wallace Place 2; total 100. Outside the borough: South road, Breakwater, etc., 43.
