INTERESTING COMPARISONS. BIG INCREASE IN REVENUE. An interesting statement, in the shape of the capital account of the electric light department, will be tabled at to-night's meeting of the Borough Council. It shows that the total amount expended on the works is £29,325. Of this sum, £26,085 was provided out of loan monies, and £3239 out of revenue. The. expenditure was distributed over the following heads:—Plant (including land,] buildings, hydraulic works, machinery, and transmission line, and extensions now in hand) £16,764; private lighting, £9303; street lighting, £3197: total. £29,325. HOW THE BUSINESS HAS GROWN. The report also includes some very enlightening comparisons showing that in six years the revenue has increased from £•B3 to £5318. BIG INCREASE IN CONSUMERS. As regards the consumers, the oom r parative table shows that, beginning with 41, the number has in six years been increased to 900. Each year records a steady increase, that of last year (230) being the largest yet experienced. Last year, the output in units was 334,030. The number of consumers in suburban districts now included in the borough is: Vogeltown 46, Fitzroy 45, Avenue road 7, Wallace Place 2; total 100.
