GENERAL TELEGRAMS

A CUSTOMS CASE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Saturday. At the Police Court Henry B. Gormley was charged with making a false declaration to the Customs as to the value of greenstone from Sydney. An invoice produced showed the value to be £27. It was ascertained that it was saleable for more money in Auckland. Gormley thereupon produced another invoice showing the value at £6l. He stated that the goods were sent to be sold on commission. The largest invoice showed only the selling value. The Magistrate imposed a fine of £SO, and fixed security for an appeal at £65.
