The South Wales' Miners' Council decided not to participate further in the deliberation* of the Coal Board uader Lord St. Aldwyn. THE MINERS' EXECUTIVE. . Received 13, 12.30 a.m. London, May 12. A small majority of the South Wales Miners' Executive rejected Mr. Stanton's demands for a national stoppage, including railwaymen and transport workers, and the proposal that the Labor Party should obstruct all Parliamentary business until a living wage was insisted upon by Act of Parliament and royalties were abolished. The South Wales Federation confirmed the executive's recommendation to abstain from the district board pending a conference with the Miners' Federation. Newspapers recall that Cause 4 allows Lord St. Aldwyn to fix a minimum independently if the miners refuse to be represented. THE TAILORS' STRIKE. London, Mav 11. Twenty-eigl* firms have signed the London Tailors' Society's agreement. Hundreds of strikers have resumed work. A LABOR FRACAS. TROOPS CALLED OUT. Received 12, 5.3.1 p.m. New York. May 10. Striking miners at Scarnton, Pennsylvania, broke a police corrlon which was surrounding the strike-breakers, and mishandled many of the latter. They threw bricks and used clubs. A fierce melee resulted for half an lvour. Several strikers were fatally hurt. The troops finally came to the policemen's rescue. Women took a prominent part in the attacks on the police, and six were arrested. The disturbances were chiefly fomented by the foreign element. THE WONTHAGGI STRIKE. Received 12. 5.5 p.m. Svdnev, Mav 11. The strike at the Stale 'coal mine, at Wonthaggi has been settled by mutual soncessions. LINKING 'WITH NEW ZEALAND. Received 13. 1 a.m. Melbourne. May 12. The Wonthaggi coal miners' ballot favored linking up with New Zealand miners by 363 votes to 6.
