OYSTER SEASON
FIXED FOR POACHING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Yesterday. A large trawling launch, owned, by John Endean and Maurice O'Connor, valued at £BOO, was seized by the Fisheries Department in consequence of its having aboard four bags of oysters, the character of which denoted that they had been taken from closed beds at Waiheke. The launch, at the time, was on a fishing excursion with twelve or thirteen persons on board. The master of the vessel denied knowledge of any oysters having been brought aboard. The Magistrate said he would impose a fine of £O, sufficient to enable the owners to take the case to a higher court if they desired.
