THE MILITANT PIRANI
ON THE WARPATH AGAIN. By Telegraph—-Press Association. Palmerston N., Last Night. Two further writs in the Stagpoole cases were served to-day by Mr. C. A. Loughnan on behalf of Thomas Stagpoole. Messrs. Nash and Coombe each received a writ for £IOOO damages for publishing in the Manawatu Standard the statement of defence of Frederick Pirani. into which the paragraphs from the Feilding Star, originally complained of, had been interpolated. There was a denial in the statement of defence that the recently-formed company of Frederick Pirani and Co., Ltd., were proprietors of the Feilding Star on March 18, when the paragraphs forming the subject of the libel action were published. Messrs. Toughen and Jacobs, as solicitors for Stagpoole. have now sued Frederick Pirani and Co., Ltd.. for £IOOO damages in connection with a publication of the statement of defence in the Feilding Star on a subsequent date. 1
