CATLINS RIVER
A SHORT SHRIFT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Thursday. The Prime Minister this morning - received a deputation from the Catlins Railway League asking that a sufficient sum he placed on the estimates to complete the line within a year. Mr. Mackenzie said he did not think it possible in view of the opinion expressed by the country against the great borrowing that had taken place. Rightly or wrongly, people were against borrowing, and if lessened borrowing occurred in future, this line would get its share.
