Riley's average was six wickets for 00 runs. Wanting 213 to win, and with twelve runs on without loss, Jones and George Gunn faced McLaren and Whitty. The weather was hot and the wicket faster. The attendance was one thousand. With 1 the score at 29, Hazlitt displaced McLaren. The batting was excellent, . though the score was composed 1 chiefly of singles.
