PAYMENT OF CLERGY
INCREASED STIPENDS. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, May 9. The Presbyterian Assembly adopted a resolution in favor of an effort to secure a stipend of £3OO and a manse for all ministers. There are complaints that many ministers are underpaid, and that, wliiie the cost of living within the past five years has advanced 30 to 40 per cent., salaries have not improved. The report showed a great dearth of candidates for the ministry.
