CARDS
The annual meeting of the East End Card Club was held last evening, when Mr. E. Whittle presided over a fair attendance. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £3 13s lOd. The annual report congratulated members on a pleasant and profitable season, and also on the loyal way they had fulfilled all engagements. Though the elub only won six out of sixteen matches, they had the satisfaction of being the only club to defeat tbe redoubtable Fire Brigade team during the season. Considering the merely nominal subscription of 2s 6dj it' was satisfactory to see a credit "balance of 18s 6d on the season's working. Special thanks and a donation of one guinea were accorded to th'e Garrison Band for the use of their bandroom. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. W. T. Jennings; president, Mr. W. Sole; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. McNeill, J. Avery, A. Cliff, E. Whittle, J. Smith and P. Lealand; club delegate, Mr. E. Whittle; club captain, Mr. 0. Cook; vice-captain, Mr. R. Kibby; selection committee, the captains, secretary and Messrs, S. Jackson and R. D. Colson. The subscription was fixed at 2s 6d. The delegate was instructed to suggest to the association that all playj cease at 0.30 in tournament matches, j The following new members were elect-! Ed: Messrs. C. Sadler, P. McKoy, Pow-I ley, E. B. Collyns and T. Williams. Itj was decided that the club should entertain all visiting teams.
