THE NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegraph—Press Association. G'hristchurch, Yesterday. The New Zealand Boxing Council reelected Sir J. G. Ward patron, and Mr. W. G. Atack secretary. The balancesheet showed a credit of £lO4. Tie council had a long discussion on the question raised by the Hawke's Bay and Greymouth associations. The latter,, with the council's sanction, arranged a match between Mitchell and Ireland for May 18, for the heavy-weight championship. Subsequently the council was informed that the Hawke's Bay Association had matched- Mitchell" and Ireland for April 20. At the council's request Greymouth gave way. It is now decided to call on Mitchell for an explanation, also to submit a full statement of the case to the affiliated bodies, with a request that they should strictly respect one another's engagements. The New Zealand chafpionships were allotted to Wellington.
