HOMING.

The New Plymouth East Flying dub have during the past week, under unfavorable weather conditions, carried out two events for birds wearing 1911-12 rings. Owing to the severity of the weather many members preferred to keep their birds within the lofts, and only a small number of birds were railed to Marton for the race. The members participating, however, were accorded a successful fly, and a good result was obtained, the places being filled as follows: H. J. Moverley's "Patience," 3 hours 15 min., 1; F. James' "Twenty" and W. Gieeson's "Titanic", 3 hours 16 min, 2; D. Murphy's '"Blue Bell," 3 hours 17 min., 4.

The above result gave members of the club more confidence i» the ability of their birds to home, and although the weather conditions remained unfavorable, eleven members forwarded eighty-three bfcds for -the second race. The day was the worst experienced this season, a strong north-west gale prevailing. The birds were kindly liberated by the stationmaster at Marton at 11 a.m., and the first birds homed at 3.35 p.m., with the following Tesult: —H. J. Moverley's "Primrose," 4 hours 35min., 1; L. Whitaker's "Sunstax," 4 hours 37min,, 2; W. Kisby's "Redwing," 4 hours 59min., 3; D. Murphy's "No. 125," 4 hours 69%min., 4.
