DEATH FROM A FALL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. John Anderson, who fell down the hold of the Mokoia on April 26, sustaining a fractured jaw, thigh and wrist, died from his injuries to-day. SUICIDE OF A SCHOOLMASTER. Thames, Yesterday. Alfred Hilyard Gatland, master of Coromandel High School, was found dead at 8 o'clock this morning, as the result of a gunshot wound. He committed suicide at his residence. He was found dead, with the muzzle of a rifle in his mouth and a hole right through his head. He was to have represented Coromandel Lodge at the conference of Masons at Dunedin. SUDDEN DEATH. Palmerston North, Yesterday. Last evening a man named Richard Robertson was discovered lying in a helpless condition in Church street. The police weTe informed, and found the man in a very bad way, but able to speak. He informed the constable that he came from Makuri, and was seventy years old. A doctor ordered his removal to the hospital, where he died an hour after admission. Apparently the deceased had a sudden seizure, as he was in good health in the morning. An inquest will be held. A PITIABLE ACCIDENT. Westport, Yesterday. In* Gibson, aged two years and five months, while getting out of her cot, was impaled on the upright of the cot, from which the knob was missing. The baby died from injuries in the groin. KILLED BY A FALL. Westport, Yesterday. David Parry, aged 29, a married man, a recent arrival from Wales, was killed at the Stockton Colliery by a fall of coal and stone from the Toof. DEATH OF A CLERGYMAN. Christehurch, Last Night. The Rev. Mr. Butler, a Baptist minister residing at Spreydon, died suddenly this afternoon. He had just seated himself in a chair, when he had a stroke and died instantly. The deceased was between 50 and -60 years of age, and had only been minister at the Spreydon church for a fortnight.
