-a. BLAZE IN" A SPIRIT STORE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Wednesday. A flro in F. Cross and Son's spirit 1' store at 4.40 a.m. this morning was checked by the brigade just in time to ' prevent a disastrous conflagration. There were one hundred cases of whisky stored ' m the building, and it required smart ' work by the brigade to prevent the fire ' reaching them. The. damage was con- ' hired to the office and the contents. The ! building, which/was owned by Mrs. A. I J. White's estate, was insured'for £IBOO m the Victoria Office, and the contents for £4OOO in the New Zealand Insurance , Company.
