LOCAL GOVERNMENT BILL
♦ A TIMARU PROTEST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. At the annual meeting of ratepayers of the Oeraldine road district to-day Mr. W. S. Maslin, ex-M.P., soundly condemned the Local Government Bill, especially the financial provisions, and, on his motion, seconded by the chairman of the board, a resolution of condemnation was unanimously carried. Mr. Maslin pointed out that the cost of education can be largely thrown upon the rates and also a larger proportion of the cost of hospitals and charitable aid institutions.
