TERRITORIALS AND SPORT
AN INDIGNANT PROTEST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Wellington Rugby Union feels apprehensive regarding the effect which four military daylight parades, which are expected to take place this month, will have upon football. "I think wo ought to make a mighty big protest about it. I think we ought to make these blokes sit up," remarked Mr. F. C. Atkinson at this evening's meeting of the union's management committee, when a discussion was proceeding respecting these parades. "Four Saturdays they want!" declared another delegate i'a answer to a query as to the number of .parades. "It would kill our junior football for the season," said Mr. Atkinson. "And a lot of our senior football, too," intimated Messrs. W. Haidman and W. Perry. "We had better confer with the soccer and hockey people," suggested Mr. A. E. Wilson. "I know they are going into the question." Messrs. E. O. Hales, W. Perry and J. Burns were deputed to confer with other winter sports bodies, with the object of approaching the defence authorities on the matter.
