CABINET AUTHORISATIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At a meeting of the Cabinet to:day the following expenditure was approved:— Waihou (Thames) river improvement, £6500. Railways: Permanent way (railways generally), £63,000; South'lsland Main Trunk, £4000; Gisbome-Napier line, £1800: Motu-Opotiki line, £300; Catlins-Waimahaka line, £5000; Midland line, £1500; Kawa Kawa-Mokianga line, £0000; Kaihu Valley railway extension, £750; Gisborne-Motu line, £8000; West-port-Inangahua line, £7OO. It was decided to open a telephone exchange at East Oxford, a telephone service between Havelock (South Island) and Timatangi, and to establish metallic circuits at Masterton and Alfredton. Also to open a telephone office at Port Hardy (D'Urville Island).
