HIS NIECE'S GIFT. Auckland, April 2G. An exceedingly interesting relic of Sir George Grey's adventurous career lias been presented to the city, through the Mayor, by Mrs. Seymour Thorne G-eorge, who is a niece of the great Pro-consul, The trophy consists of the head of one of the spears with which Sir George Grey (then Mr. George Grey) -was wounded in an encounter with Natives on the Glenelg Kiver, North-West Australia, on February 11, 1838. The gift has been suitably acknowledged by the Mayor, who has undertaken to see that it is preserved among the unique collection of curios in the Grey collection.
