GABLES AND WIRELESS FOR AUCKLAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Preliminary work in connection with the bringing 'of the direct Sydney cable and Doubtless Bay (Pacific) cable, to Auckland is being carried on under Mr. Baird, telegraph engineer. It is expected that both cables will be in full working order at the Auckland post office and telegraph office by the enjl pf November.

Good progress is being made with the preliminary work at the Awanui wireless station. It is expected that fifteen wireless experts, who have been engaged, will arrive from Sydney shortly, and at once proceed with the erection of the tower.
