The seamen of the Nippon Yusen Toyo and Osaka companies have struck, and the services to Europe, Seattle, Valparaiso and Shanghai are interrupted. THE LITHGOW WORKS. Sydney, April 28. The High Court reversed tht decision of the Full Court in the case of the Lithgow miner who was fined for absenting himself from. work. The Full Court had upheld tho appeal against the Police Court decision convicting. The question involved was whether the dismissal of the union delegate for ab-1 senting himself without permission to attend a meeting, constituted a reasonable cause for breaking the contract.
THE PAKEHA STRIKE. A COMPREHENSIVE SCHEME. Received 26, 0.40 p.m. Sydney, April 20. The Pakeha strike has been settled, and the vessel sailed for New Zealand this morning. The agenda paper of the Labor Congress, to be held in June, includes motions in favor of Ministerial control of the railways, repeal of compulsory military training, a federation of the labor councils of Australia and New Zealand, a working week of five days or 45 hours, and preservation of the right to strike.
