A London cablegram states that Miss Hilda Cooper, daughter of the late Sir Daniel Cooper, has been betrothed to Lord Northland.
Mr. L. Jaggar, ex-general manager of the Atlas Insurance Company in New Zealand, and a well-known sportsman, died in Melbourne and was buried en Saturday.
Mr. W. T. Jennings left Waitara by the mail train yesterday morning ia company with the Hon. Geo. Laurenson. He will go on to Te Kuiti, where a presentation is being made on Thursday night. The Hon. Geo. Laurenson has accepted a very pressing invitation to give a political address in Waitara at an early date. Those who were present at th« presentation to Mr. W. T. Jennings are very loud in their praises of the Minister, and were agreeably surprised with the able manner in which he handled his subjects. They arc thirsting for moro Laurenson.
