CAPTAIX AMUNDSEN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Yesterday. A dozen Norwegian residents met Gaptain Amundsen this morning, and presented him with a gold watch in recognition of his conquest of the South Pole. SUBURBAN RAILWAY SERVICES. Auckland, Yesterday. Replying to a deputation, the Hon. Mr. Meyers said he intended to make a feature of his railway policy the improvement of the suburban services throughout the whole Dominion. JOURNALISTIC AMALGAMATION. Dannevirkc, Yesterday. An important business transaction, involving the sale of the Dannevirke Advocate to the Dannevirke Publishing Company, was successfully negotiated last week. The terms agreed upon are satisfactory to both parties. The transaction has been amicably arranged, and the Advocate will, from May 1° be incorporated in the Dannevirke Evening News. °
