The characters were ..Scotty, a publichouse loafer, who stood in'the middle of the street to compel the taxi to slowdown; Dutch, who silenced one messenger; Gene Splaine, who looked after the i>,t)u-T; Martini, the chauffeur; and a j outh with a concealed pistol. They had all carefully rehearsed the affair wit'li a friendly chauffeur and tavi in Central ,I'ark. Kinsman'.-, narrative proceeds: "\Ye all stood half concealed in the doorway* round Trinity Place ready to plav our part, like regular actors." Pretty soon the taxi showed up with .Martini'at the wheel.
