APPEAL COURT.
AN AUCKLAND CASE. By Telegraph— Special to News. Wellington, Last Night. 111 the Court of Appeal to-day, before Chief Justice Sir Robert Stout and Justices Williams, Edwards, Cooper and Chapman, argument was heard in the Crown cases, reserved, of the Kin" v O'Shaughnessy and the King v. Hassell and Campbell. The cases arose out of the death of Elsie Alexandra Holland on June 13 of last year, at Auckland. |lt will be remembered that the trial j took place in November last, and that Mrs. O'Shaughnessy was convicted of manslaughter, and the other two prisoners of conspiring to obstruct, prevent pervert and defeat the course of justice.' jMis. 0 Shaughnessy was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment with hard labor, and the other prisoners to twelve months' imprisonment with hard labor The questions reserved by Mr. Justice Chapman, the judge presiding at the trials m both cases, are as to the admissabihty of certain evidence tending to show that Mrs. O'Shaughncssy's louse was known as a place where'il- J legal operations might be performed, aid the admissibility of the depositions of the prisoners taken before the coroner Mr Singer appears for all the prisoners and the Solicitor-Genera! for the Crown. Argument was not concluded when the court roup.
