TARANAKI OIL WELLS, LTD. Applications for shares in the Taranaki Oil Wells Company are pouring in, no fewer than three thousand letters for varying numbers of shares having already been received at the local office. From every town and district, from the North Cape to the Blufr, applications are coming, and there is every indication that there will be a heavy subscription in the Dominion. The advertised prospectus states that the list will close not later than Wednesday next, the 24th inst., but it is <|uite possible that it will close on Tuesday, therefore those intending to apply for shares should not delay, but get their applications in tomorrow or Monday. Mr. H. J. Brown yesterday morning received the following cable from London: "People here are taking very great interest in issue of Taranaki (N.Z.) Oil Wells, Ltd. Shares are being purchased on the Stock Exchange at a premium of 3s !)d. Anticipate rush for shares- when lists open on Monday. Market strong." Operations at the wells are going on as_usual, tin: flow of oil being well maintained. The large underground well at No. 2 bore is almost ready, and will be utilised at^once.
