NEW SOUTH WALES CHAMPIONSHIPS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright, Received April 14, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, April 14. Jones (New South Wales) defeated Campbell (Victoria), 0-2, 3-6, 8-6. In the doubles March and Sayera (New South Wales) defeated Rice and Campbell (Victoria), 1-6, 6-1, 7-5, 6-3. In the ladies' singles Mrs. Ford defeated Miss Collings 6-2, 8-6. The doubles were won by Mrs. Ford and Miss Collings. , . WILDING'S EXPLANATION. By Telegraph—Press Association. ' Ghristchurch, Saturday, j Mr. A. F. Wilding, writing to a friend in Christchurch regarding criticism on his absence in the Davis Cup contests, says that when he promised to come to New Zealand he had no idea that from June, 1911, he .was to be a member of a large firm in the City of London. Under the circumstances he could not ask leave to make an extended visit to New Zealand. From June to February he had not played tennis.
