A STATE FUNERAL. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, April 13. There was a great and representative gathering at the State funeral of Mr. Dacey, the Treasurer, including the Governor. CONGESTED TRAFFIC. Sydney, April 13. The Engineer-in-Chief of Railways declares that a circular railway through the city is imperative to relieve the congestion of traffic. The limit of the present resources has been reached.
THE SUGAR COMMISSION. Brisbane, April 13. Giving evidence before the Sugar Commission a witness declared that the Colonial Sugar Refining Company practically hold the market. If other sugar was brought in £lO per ton cheaper the company's sugar would still hold its own, because it was so well known and of such reliable quality. SHIPPING RATES. * Melbourne, April 13. It is estimated that various recent awards in the shipping industry will increase the shipowners' wages bill by over £200,000. A further increase in fares and freights is considered inevitable.
