EASTER TOURNAMENT CONCLUDED. W. B. COLBECK WINS TARANAKI CHAMPIONSHIP. The New Plymouth Golf Club's Easter tournament was concluded yesterday. Rain prevented any play in the morning, and a start was made'in the championship match at 2 o'clock, between Messrs W. B. Coined* and J. C. Burns, both of Auckland. At the end of the nine holes Colbeck was 6 up, .his score being then 30. Burns here began to pull up on his opponent, but could not overtake his opponent's big lead, Colbeck winning with 4 up and 3 to play. Both games provided a very fine exhibition of golf, Colbeck's putting being a feature of the contest.

At the conclusion of the first round a nine-hole bogey match was commenced, which was won by I Saunders with 3 up. Messrs W. P. Nicoll and A. H. Steeds tied for second place -on-e up. Thitf tie wilj probably be played off next week.

The play-off for the second place in Monday's bogey match was won by W. P. Nicoll. The putting on Saturday was won by TV. B. Colbeck. 11. D. Bates was second. A similar competition on Monday was won by A. Bewl<"- 0. Saunders being second; while to-day A. Bewley was again first, and Mrs. I. Saunders secured second place. At the conclusion of the tournament, in the absence of the president (Mr. A. Standish), Mr. /Bewley teoiigrMmlatedi the winner of the Taranaki championship, Mr. TV. B. Colbeck, on his fine performance. He also alluded to Burns' sterling, but unsuccessful, attempt to overhaul his opponent, especially in the second round. Mr. Bewley then asked Mrs. Paton to present the trophies won. at the tournament.

Mr. W. B. Colbeck replied on behalf of the visitors, congratulating the club on the way in which the tournament had' been run under adverse ciraumstances. Great credit is duo to the caretaker, Mr. W. Bennett, for the splendid state of the greens.
