HYPNOTIST BAITED

There was an extraordinary scene\in Emerson street 011 Thursday night. 11l response to an announcement that a woman, alleged to he under hypnotic influnice, would he awakened at 10 o'clock from a 72 hoars' sleep, a huge crowd collected. Early in the proceedings they denounced the hypnotist, who declared that he had .studied the science for seven or eight years The crowd then took charge, end the principals in the show had to seek refuge in an adjacent shop. Buckets of water were thrown on th# densely packed crowd from the building, and the response was a shower of stones, which broke some windows. The crowd hung on till after midnight, when th« refugees were smuggled away in motors.
