This will be immediI ately followed (at 1.30 p.m.) by that good old English game of cricket, when one of the most interesting and keenly contested maitches ever played in Taranaki will eventuate between the Tara-i naki County Council and the New Plymouth Borough Council. The game will be "fast and furious," as both teams are out to win. It will also be full of surj prises, glorious uncertainties, and eggs. That commodity being very expensive! The veterans of the game will endeavor to secure as many ''innings" as possible during the day, regardless of rims, and the public will have to study the scoring board very closely to distinguish between the number of wickets and the total number of runs. The newspapers have kindly printed tickets and advertised the matches free, so that the whole proceeds may go to the Winter Show Hall Fund. It is to be hoped that the public will turn out in large numbers, the adults paying their shilling, and all children being admitted free. It is anticipated that the Garrison Band will be in attendance.
