THE BOAT RACE.

A WIN FOR OXFORD. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, April 1. Oxford won the boat race by eight lengths. DETAILS OF THE RACE. London, April 1. There was a strong north-westerly wind and choppy water. The boats had seven-inch splash-boards, with bladders under the seats. Cambridge started the quicker, but the boats were level at half-a-mile, when a heavy hailstorm was encountered. After three-quarters of a mile had been covered, Oxford steadily drew ahead, and led by two lengths at Hammersmith Bridge. Oxford took Cambridge's water half-a-mile later, and thence forward it was a procession. Despite Cambridge's plucky spurt, Oxford won by six lengths in 22min ssec.
