m ANTWERP WOOL SALES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, March 31. At the Antwerp wool sales 4525 bales of La Plata wool were offered and 2334 sold. Merinos were 3 per cent, above February rates and crossbreds 5 to 7 per cent, higher. LONDON MARKETS. London, March 31. Sheepskins.—Four thousand eight hundred and thirty-eight bundles were offered and the bulk sold to fair competition. Merinos were practically unchanged, but had a slight upward tendency. All crossbreds advanced one-eighth" of a penny to a farthing. Hemp.—Quiet. March-May shipments £22 l«s. Jute.—March-April shipments £23 10s. Rubber, 4s liy 2 d. Cotton.—April-May shipments j5.95d. Rabbits.—Flat. Large Sydneys ex store 15s to 15s 6d. Copra—Firm. South Sea bulk £24 17s m.
WHEAT MARKET. Melbourne, April 1. The wheat crop for lull and 1912 amounts to 20.000,577 bushels, an average of 9.05 bushels per acre, as against 34,813,000, an average of 14.5 bushels for the previous year. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Monday. The following is the High Commissioner's cablegram under date London, March _3O (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, arc average market prices on spot) : Mutton—The market is firm and there is more demand for light weights, -Canterbury not quoted, average price (nominally) 4%d; North Island 3V,d to 4Vsd. Lamb—The market is firm and there is good demand for all lamb. Canterbury 5%d, other than Canterbury 5%d. Beef—The market is firm, with limited supply. New Zealand hind-quarters 4y B d, New Zealand fore-quarters 3%d. Butter.—Tho market is slightly weaker, with less demand, and buyers are cautious. The weather continues favorable, for the Home production. The average price for the week for choicest New Zealand butter was 12os; Danish 1325, Australian 121s, Argentine 121s, aand Siberian 1235. Cheese.—The market is quiet and prices are slightly weaker. The average price for the week for finest New Zealand cheese was 745. Hemp.—The market is about the same. Spot New Zealand goou fair £2l 10s, New Zealand fair grade £2O, fair current Manila £2l 10s; forward shipment New Zealand good fair £2l 15s, New Zealand fair grade £2O ss, failcurrent Manila £2l 15s. The output from Manila for the week was 29,000 bales. Hops—The market remains firm at last week's quotations. English £l3, Californian £lO, with a general and active demand. Wbeat.—The market is quiet firm. Oats.—The market is firm, with an improved demand. Beans—The market is firm, owing to reduced supplies. Peas.—The market is slightly weaker, with less demand; there are large supplies. Cocksfoot Seed—The market is quiet, but buyers are not keen to do business in cocksfoot seed. DAIRY PRODUCE REPORT. Mr. R. W. D. Robertson has received the following cable from Messrs Andrew Clement and Sons, Ltd., London Butter-Salted 120s, unsalted 128s. Market declining. Cheese-AVhite 755, colored 755. Market steady.
