Mr. Roosevelt characterised the methods used to secure his defeat as infamous. The primaries of New Y'ork had been arranged by means of trickery and fraud. ROOSEVELT.EXASPERATED. • Received 29, 10.10 p.m. London, March 29. The Times' Washington correspondent states that Roosevelt is exasperated by a number of State conventions declaring overwhelmingly against him. lie says that he is fighting against the representatives of the powers of pillage, and hinted that if defeated by the convention he might head a new party.
