OBITUARY
MRS. W. SOLE. Another of Taranaki's fast-diminish* Ing band of pioneers has been removed by the death of Mrs. W. Sole, sen,, which occurred at Hunterville on Tuesday night. While 'On a visit to Hunterville, about a month ago, Mrs. r Sole, who was in her 80th vear, had the misfortune to fracture a thigh through the swing door of the Hunterville post- office shutting to and striking her, throwing' her down the steps on to the'footpath. Although at one time hopes were entertained of Mrs, Sole's recovery, compli- , cations set in during last week, and her end was not unexpected. The deceased lady was horn in England, and in April, 1854, she left her home at Honiton, in Devon, in company with her brdfcher, Mr. David Ware, arriving in New Plymouth towards the end of the same year. Since then she had resided continuously' : ■in this town. In July, 1855, she married the late Mr. William Sole—the officiating minister being the late Rev. H. Groube—and had a family of thirteen children, \ ten of whom are living—Mrs. H. Street (Huntervilley, Mrs. H. Ainsworth (New Plymouth), Mrs. Hjll (Hawera),'Mra. Pigott (Urenuij, Mrs.Freeth (Pukearuhe), and Messrs George Sole (New Plymouth), Gus Sole (Bel! ' Block), 0. W. Sole (New Plymouth), 0. Sole (Stratford), and E. Sole (New Plymouth). The late Mrs. Sole was well known throughout the district, and the J • announcement of her death will he received with general regret. The funeral' will take place at the Te Henui'Ceme-' tery on/Friday. By the express wish of the deceased the interment will he private, and there will be no mourning and no flowers.
