ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Wednesday. Charles Reid, son of Donald Reid, died this morning. Deceased met with a motor accident a fortnight ago, hut had seemingly recovered. Death, it is understood, was due to a clot of blood on the brain, the outcome of the accident.
KILLED BY A CRANE. Hamilton, Wednesday. A sad accident took place at Frankton engine shed at two o'clock this morning, whereby acting-driver George Joseph French, aged 29, lost his life. He was coaling, prior to running into the sheds. Deceased was working a pneumatic crane, and when lifting a load the crane capsized, pinning him underneath, and crushing him horribly. Death was instantaneous. He leaves a young wife and small child. FATALLY CRUSHED. Auckland, Wednesday. George Taylor, who was injured by being caught between two trams at Takapuna, died in the hospital after his leg had been amputated. DEATH UNDER AN ANAESTHETIC. Dunedin, Wednesday. Mrs. Crossan, of Roxburgh, died yesterday during the administration of an anaesthetic. A SOLICITOR'S FATE. Auckland. Last Night. Through his garments being x ignited by • a candle C. E. Leeds received injuries which resulted in his death this morning. Deceased was taken ill in the night, and lighted a candle, by some means managing tq set his clothes on fire. It is conjectured that a seizure was the cause of the fatality. Deceased was a married man, a retired solicitor, 65 years of age.
