ANOTHER MINING DISASTER.
SIXTY MEN ENTOMBED. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. New York, March 26. An explosion in a mine of the Jed Coal and Coke Company, Welch, West Virginia, entombed seventy miners. Ten were rescued alive, and one dead body was also recovered. Strong hopes are entertained of the remaining men being rescued alive. AN AWFUL DEATH ROLL. NO HOPE FOR THE MISSING. Received 28, 1 a.m. New York, March 27. Latest reports of the West Virginian mine disaster show that the death roll exceeds eighty. Ninety-three men were involved. Eleven reached the surface alive. Six bodies have been found. Indications lead to the abandonment of hope for the others.
