■ NEWTON KING'S STRATFORD WEEK--1 LY REPORT. At the Haymarket on Saturday there was a large attendance of buyers. A moderate number of pigs were penned, the whole of which were cleared at the hammer, prices ruling showing an advance on last week's prices. I quote: Slips and weaners, 7s 6d to 17s 6d; small stores, 19s 6d to 235; medium porkers. £1 15s to £2 2s; On behalf of Mx. Thos. Webb: P.B. boars, £3 to £3 7s fid; p.b. sows, £2 10s. Harness and sun-, dries at usual rates. Poultry.— Only a moderate entry of birds came to hand. Hens, Is 3d; roostera Is; turkeys, 4s to 4s sd; geese, 3s 6d; ducks, Is sd; potatoes, 6s to 7s cwt.; onions, 2d per lb. A large quantity of furniture and sundries at usual rates. Fruit.-About 900 cases came to hand during the week. Peaches, No. 1 3s Pd to 4s 6d, No. 2 3s to 3s 3d; plums, Is 3d to 3s; pears, dessert No. 1 3s 3d to 4s, Ao. 2 3s to 3s i6d, cooking 3s to 3s 3d; apples, dessert No. 1 2s 9d to 3s 3d, No. 2 2s 6d, cooking Is U to 4s; quinces,' 2s to 4s 6d; tomatoes, 4s 3d to 6s, according to size of case and quality. EROZEN MEAT. Wellington, March 23. lhe N.Z. Loan and Merctantile Agency to, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house-un-der date 22nd inst:—i Moderate demand for mutton. Market generally better for lamb. Market quiet for beef. THE HIDE MARKET. Mr. Newton King has received the folowmg cable from his Sydney agents re hides: "Eighth to farthing lower"
