EMPIRE PICTURES. Bobby Leach's foolhardy feat in shooting the Niagara Falls inside a barrel, a drama of "The Hot Lands," and a sensational drama, "The Diamond Hang," are only a few of the wide range of attractions at present showing at the Empire Picture Theatre. Shooting the world's most famous falls is indeed a feat to be seen to be believed, and members of the audience at the Empire, snugly esconeed in a comfortable seat, bad a far better view of the whole performance than the spectators who doubtless lined the banks of the river. Nothing escapes the eye of the camera. Prior to negotiating the falls Leach is shown traversing the rapids, whence he was towed by a motor boat. Leach is also depicted in the act of getting into his strange craft, and finally emerging from it—no easy matter—to' the accompaniment of the plaudits of the crowd. "The Hot Lands" involves a lonely and courageous ride by a girl to the nearest place—2s miles distant—to obtain ice for her sick mother, who is pronounced to be suffering from sunstroke and fever. On her way back with the iee she is stuck up by a robber, and how she eventually readies home is brimful of exciting ' interest. Other good films are "The Isle of Man"— an excellent scenic. "A Handsome Man," "Too Many Burglars"—a huge farce, and "A Delayed Proposal." The programme will be repealed this evening, and tomorrow a new series of films will be screened.
