GARDEN PARTY.

The Park Tennis Club were more fortunate yesterday in regard to the weather than on the previous Thursday afternoon. The southerly wind had moderated a good deal, and in the lovely gardens of "Overdale." Mr. R. Cock's home, the wind was hardly felt. There was a good attendance of the public particularly of the fair sex. The nwue discoursed by the Garrison Band was a feature of the proceedings and was much enjoyed. I The stall-holders and their "scouts" seemed to do a thriving business. No opportunity of catching or •■ extracting the nimble coin appeared to be missed. In one place you could Ret your fortune told: near by you were given the opportunity of knocking down Aunt Sally or having a "shigh"; before you got very far you were pressed to enter a competition, from hat trimming to sheep weight guessing; whilst if you desired (or did not desire, for that matter) refreshment you had'your selection, from ice creams to sweets. The refresh- '\ ment booth had its headquarters in the dining-room and adjacent verandah of ! " the house, and the president's wife (Mrs. Cock) made an excellent director.
