i A BOOKMAKER FIXED. J By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, Wednesday. At the Magistrate's Court a .bookmaker named Blane was charged with betting on licensed premises. The charge was dismissed, there being no corroborative evidence. On n further charge of laying totalisator odds defendant was fined £2O. A NAVAL DESERTER DISCHARGED. Christchurch, Wednesday. Ernest Boyes, who was arrested at Hamilton, for desertion from H.M.S. Pfoner, in 1906, was placed on board the vessel. In view of the circumstances of the case, the naval authorities have given Boves a discharge and he returns to his farm.
