THE RUGBY LEAGUE. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Sydney, March 20. The Rugby League report shows that the New Zealand team, after meeting all expenses of the Australian tour, had £I2OO to the good.

TARANAKI RUGBY UNION. ANNUAL REPORT. In presenting its annual report, to come before the meeting of delegates at Stratford to-night week, the committee of the Taranaki Rugby Union again congratulate the clubs on a successful year. The report recalls that during the season the rep. team undertook the southern tour, fulfilling engagements with Wellington, Canterbury, Otago, and Southland. The trip also included a visit to' Greymouth. Record wins were regis- 1 tered against Wellington, Canterbury, 1 and Otago, the match against Southland was won, but a loss was sustained' against the West Coast Union. Other | matches played were against Wanganui' (2)— both won; Maoris—won; North Island) touring team—won, and against Auckland—lost. Altogether ten matches '< 'were played, only two being lost. The! provincial championship matches resulted as •under:—Seniors: Okaiawa;. juniors, Hawera; second juniors, Waimate. Last season two new clubs were affiliated, viz., Rovers (New Plymouth) and Okato. These two clubs, together with the Star and United Service seniors, played a Saturday competition, the Stars being victorious. The balancesheet shows a surplus of liabilities over assets of £2l._ The committee comments that considering the magnitude < ' the southern tour, and the wet weather experienced on the day of the Auckland match, the financial position must be deemed very satisfactory. Should reasonable weather be experienced during the approaching season, the union should have a good credit balance at the end of the financial year.
