ATHLETICS.
URENUI SPORTS. (Prom Our Own Correspondent). Our sports, which were postponed from last Thursday on account of the weaj ther, came off on Tuesday, the weather this time being all that one could I wish, but the attendance was not good. I No doubt this can be accounted for by the function being postponed and not being able to hold it on a Thursday. The Waitiira Brass Band, which was coming last Thursday if fine, could not attend to-day. However, everything went off well, thanks to an energetic committee and the secretaries (Messrs W. Fuller and A. Thompson), Mr. R. Pigott made I a capable judge. There was some good running and some very close finishes. Mr. T. Waite was in charge of the two refreshment booths, and the dinner and tea was all that could be desired. Results:— Maiden race, 150yds—Eggleston 1, T. Stainer 2, Proctor 3. Boys' race, 220 yds—l.
