MR. BEAUCHAMP'S RETIREMENT. Wellington, Wednesday. Sir Joseph Ward: stated yeter-day, in reply to a question as to why Mr. Harold Beauchamp, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of New Zealand, was not reappointed to the directorate, that Mr. Beauchamp had officially intimated that, on account of the state of his health, he did not intend to seek reappointment. "I have receivedi a letter from Mr. Beauchamp, written from London, to that effect. There, is, therefore," said the Prime Minister, "no reflection on Mr, Beauchamp, who has carried out his responsible duties in a thoroughly satisfactory manner." 0 It is understood that Mr. Martin Ken- ® nedy will succeed Mr. Beauchamp in the position of president.
