POISON IN MISTAKE FOR WHISKY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Saturday. Edmund James Fjshenden, singly aged 33, died last night under circuir/ stances wliich necessitate holding an inquest. He was suffering from a cold and was taking some whisky in the hope of curing it, and had also been inhaling enseptol. Bottles containing those liquids were on the table alongside his bed, and it is supposed that he must have swallowed poison in mistake, for whisky. WELL-KNOWN JOCKEY KILLED. Auckland, Last Night. A fatal aecident occurred at the Ohinemuri Jockey Club's meeting. Manuwera fell in the Nethei'ton Welter and brought down Sliplink. Both riders were rendered unconscious. Whitaker sustained a severe concussion of the brain and McFlynn recovered. Whitaker died at the Paeroa railway station while waiting for the express to go to the Thames hospital. A SUDDEN DEATH. Christchurch, Last Night. A woman named Emily Foster, residing at Fakgrave street, Sydenham, died suddenly on Saturday. At the inquest a verdict was returned that death was due to internal hemorrhage.
