IS IT REFUSED IN" NEW ZEALAND? By Cable—Preaa Association—Copyright. Perth, March 16. The manager and secretary of the Young Australian League Party, who are touring in America, writing to the press regarding Sir William Russell's denial that Australian coinage was refused in New Zealand, state that the Wellington Post Office andvvarious places of business declined to accept it, and directed those who presented it to an office where coins could be cashed at 25 per cent, discount. A party also received a written offer from a business man to the same effect. SIR W. RUSSELL INTERVIEWED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hastings, March 16. Interviewed re the cable from Perth, Sir William Russell said there was evidently a misunderstanding, as he alluded to gold coinage, while apparently the Westralian pressman was referring to the new silver coinage, which was not in circulation in New Zealand previous to his leaving for England.
