LONDON TALLOW SALES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, March 13. Tallow.—One thousand one hundred and fifty-five casks were offered and 201 sold. Owing to the strike buyers refrained from operating. Holders want full prices. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, March 14. Wheat is easier. Sellers reduced the limit by three-farthings without buyers. L. L. A. Nolan and Co. report for week ending Wednesday, 13th inst.: — Poultry.—On Saturday we had a large and varied entry, for which there was a good demand. Prices were about the same as previous weeks. We quote: Hens, fat, Is 6d to Is lOd, others Is to Is 7d, roosters Is to Is Gd, cockerels 6d to 2s (according to size), pullets Is lOd to 3s 6d, ducks Is 4d to Is 10d, ducklings Is 7d to Is 9d. In the mart a large quantity of household furniture ws?J» disposed of at reasonable prices. Fruit.—The supply still continues to be well maintained. Large consignments have arrived from Auckland, Nelson, Hawke's Bay and Earotonga. Peaches and pears have not been in such good demand, although last week's prices have been maintained. Apples are very slow of sale, owing, no doubt, to the large quantity of other fruit still available. We quote: Peaches, best, 3s 6d to 4s, seconds 2s 9d to 3s, thirds 2s 6d to 2s 9d, pears, W.B.C. 3s 6d to 4s, L.B.J. '3s to 3s 9d, Clairegeau (bushels) .6s to 6s 6d, l cookers 4s to 5s 9d, graphs (outdoor ! grown) 3s to 4s 3d, tomatoes 6s to 6s 6d, watermelons 12s 6d per cwt., oranges 10s fid to 14s per case; apples, dessert, bushels, 5s to 6s 6d, cookers 3s 6d to 4s fld. WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. At the mart on Saturday we had a large entry of birds of all classes. Prices showed an advance on last week's prices. Laying and forward white and brown Leghorn pullets met with keen competition, one pen of white Leghorn pullets realising 5s 3d each. (Prices as under: Hens (old) Is 4d to Is lid, young 2s to 2s 6d, cockerels (young) Ifld to is sd, fat is 5d to 2s; pullets, laying white Leghorns, 4s '6d. to 5s 3d, forward brown Leghorns 4s to 4s 3d, young crossbreds 2s to 3s; drakes Is 7d to 2s. : Fruit—During the week we have had I a large quantity of RaTotongan bananas j and oranges, also large quantities of Nel- | son and other fruits, On account of the j supplies beginning to slacken off, prices have started to harden.
