CABINET AUTHORISATIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association. AVellington, Last Night. Tenders are to be called for building a laundry, master's house and manager's house at Stoke Orphanage, Nelson. Cabinet also decided to-day to authorise the purchase of £10,060 worth of rails and sleepers for the new branch line from Ohakune to Raetihi. About £II,OOO has been voted for purchasing rails intended for Nipier-Gisborne railway at the Napier end. Extensive additions are to be made to the school for deaf mutes at Sumner. To that end Cabinet decided to-day to accept tenders for about £3OOO worth of buildings, comprising a new wing and containing much needed class room accommodation and hospital. A tender was accepted to-day for the erection of a post office at Otane, Hawke's Bay. OPENIXG OF CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL. Wellington, Last Night. The new hospital for children, built at a cost of about £IC,OOO, as the result of an effort initiated by the Mayoress 18 months ago, was formally opened this afternoon by His Excellency the Governor, who made a special journey from Auckland to Wellington to perform the ceremony. There was a large attendance. Addresses were delivered by His Excellency. Rev.. W. A. Evans (chairman or the Hospital Board), Mr. R. C. Kirk (chairman of the hospital committee) and Mr. G. T. London (treasurer). The new hospital almost adjoins the general hospital. • . SPOUTS PROTECTION LEAGUE. Nelson, Last Night. At a- well attended meeting to-night it was decided to form a branch of the Sports Protection League. Secretary Paape addressed the meeting.
