CRY AGAINST BORROWING
AND THE DEMANDS FOR NEW WORKS. By Telegraph—Press Assowitio*. Palmerston N., Last Night. ' Replying to deputations to-day which asked that new station buildings should be made instead of patching the old ones, Mr. Millar said this could only be done by borrowing money, or if it were done out of revenue it meant increased rates. He got similar requests from all over the Dominion, and they must not expect' these things and then blame the Government for borrowing money to do them. Mr. Buick, M.P., said this was quite correct. The Government had to borrow the money. The deputation stated that the business at Palmerston station had increased 76 per cent, in the past five years, only one other station, Prankton-Hamilton, having a higher percentage of increase.
