Mr. E. C. Isaac, Inspector of Technical Schools, is on an official visit to New Plymouth. Mr. W. J. Gray, of Okato, left last night for Auckland, where he, catches the Zealandia for America. Mr. Gray expects to be away for about five months. Mri W. T. Coad, of the local post and telegraph staff, left last evening by the Rarawa on hi 6 annual leave, which he will spend in the Auckland and Waikato districts. '• Mr. G. W. Harden, formerly of the local staff 'of the Bank of New South Wales, succeeds Mr. •J. C. Campbell as manager at Wanganui. Mr. Campbell goes to Napier. , ' A Sydney cable state that Miss Birch was farewelled on the eve of her departure to assume the general secretaryship of the Wellington Young Woman's Christian Asociation. The Rev. J. W. Burton and Mr. E. N. L. Okey, who have been attending the Methodist Conference at Auckland, returned to New Plymouth yesterday morning by the Rarawa. Mr. and Mrs. R. Langman, who have been on a visit to the Auckland and Tauranga districts during the pas't .five weeks, returned to New Plymouth by the Rarawa yesterday morning. Some Christ's College old boys resident in TaTanakf foregathered last night and decided to send a message of condolence to Mrs. Morland, widow of the late headmaster of the school,
Mr. H. W. ■ Stow, teller at the local branch of the Bank of N«w Zealand during the past four years, has been promoted to the position of assistantacccountant. K. Bloxam, of Kimbolton, will succeed Mr. Stow as teller. Mr. S. M. Hobday, of Wellington, who has been relieving in the local office during the past few weeks, proceeds shortly to the Wanganui branch of the bank. It is understood that Mr. A. P. Dryden, Chief Postmaster at New Plymouth, who is at present absent in Australia on sick leave, is to be promoted to the position of Chief Postmaster at Napier, rendered vacant by the retirement Of Mr. W. J. Chaney on superannuation. During ths fifteen months that Mr. Dryden has been in charge of the local office he has proved a particularly live man, and has brought the town and suburban postal and telephonic facilities right up-to-date, and effected manv improvements throughout the postal district.
