WORK AND WAGES.

THE TROUBLE .IN AUCKLAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Monday. A meeting of delegates of unions affiliated to the Labor 'Federation appointed a deputation to interview the Prime Minister to discuss the general laborers' dispute. A document protesting against the registration of such unions as the City and Suburban Local Bodies' Employees' Union under the Arbitration Act was submitted with 1000 signatures. : The General Laborers' Union, by an overwhelming majority, resolved to cancel registration under the Arbitration Act. The registration of the new union will be diametrically opposed to tlie interests of the vast majority of Auckland laborers and a cause of unnecessary friction and irritation. The protest will be forwarded to the Registrar of industrial Unions. Mr. Walklate, general manager of the tramways, says he has received no official intimation from the employees' union that the men propose to go on strike, and he did not anticipate that they would break their agreement with the company in any way. DEPUTATION MEETS THE PREMIER. Auckland, Last Night. A deputation from the General Laborers' Union waited upon the Prime Minister to-night in regard to, the present dispute. The proceedings were private.
