HYDRO-ELECTRICITY SCHEME.
A BIG CONTRACT LET. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A contract for the construction of the tunnel from Lake Coleridge to the head of the power house by the Waimakariri river haß been let, and the main work of development in the first of the series of the hydro electric schemes for the Dominion, authorised towards the end of 1910 by Parliament, will shortly be commenced. The contractor is J. McWilliams, of Wellington. The price is £53,172, and the work is to be finished by August, 1913.
